🏏 Ladakh Could Soon Be Home to the World’s Highest Cricket Stadium!

A proposed cricket stadium at Thiksey, near Leh, could become the world’s highest cricket stadium, located at an altitude of 3,600 metres (11,800 feet) above sea level.

The project is currently in the planning stage, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) under preparation by the Ladakh Administration. If approved and completed, the stadium is expected to boost sports infrastructure, create new opportunities for local youth, and strengthen Ladakh’s growing appeal as a tourism destination.

📍 Location: Thiksey, Near Leh, Ladakh
⛰️ Altitude: 3,600 m (11,800 ft)
💰 Estimated Cost: ₹100–116 Crore
📄 Status: Proposed – DPR Under Preparation

⚠️ Note: This is a proposed project. Construction has not yet begun, and the final design, budget, and timeline will be confirmed after the DPR and official approvals.

⚠️ Weather Advisory June 2026
The region is currently experiencing intermittent snowfall and very cold temperatures. Travelers should carry proper winter clothing, gloves, thermals, and waterproof gear. Snowfall may occur at higher passes, including Khardung La and Baralacha La, so always check the latest road and weather conditions before departure.
