Altitude and Acclimatization
Lasermo La is nearly 5,438 m (17,841 ft) meters above sea level. Because of the extreme elevation:
- Oxygen levels are substantially lower.
- Travelers may experience Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
- Proper acclimatization in Leh is essential.
- Spending at least 2–3 nights in Leh before attempting the journey is highly recommended.
