It consists of six main temples, including the towering three-story Sumtseg and the Dukhang (Assembly Hall). The Alchi Monastery or Alchi Gompa lies about 65 km (40.3miles) from Leh on the banks of the Indus River.
Photography Rules: Cameras and mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the monastery premises to protect the ancient art, so you will need to use a locker at the entrance. Entry tickets are typically Rs 100 per person.
The Sumtseg Temple: The most celebrated structure in the complex is this three-story temple. It is famous for its towering 14.5-foot figure of the Maitreya Buddha and delicate, flowing textiles.
